Homes are meant to be lived in. And while you clean and care for your home, normal wear and tear is going to manifest from time to time. That is why we want to go through some of the most common problems homeowners face and how you can rectify them.
Sinks Not Draining Well
Is there anything more frustrating than a drain that doesn’t... drain? Drains get clogged up from time to time. It is just something that happens. The good news is, though, that clearing a slow draining sink is fairly easy to do. All you need is a bit of baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle a half cup of baking soda down the affected drain and then follow that with a half cup of hot vinegar. The combination will react and bubble and work its magic. After a few minutes, flush the drain with water.
Baseboards Looking Battered
As the years go by, generally wear is going to show up on your baseboards. This is especially the case if you have children or dogs in the house. Making your baseboards look as good as new is fairly easy to do, however. For nicks and gouges, fill them with a bit of wood putty and allow to set up. Then sand it until it is flush with the rest of the board. And finally, paint it to match. Voila! Years of abuse erased.
Squeaky floorboards might seem quirky at first, but they can quickly become annoying. You can silence squeaks, however, with a surprising ingredient, baby powder. Sprinkle baby powder in between noisy joints. The baby powder will act as a buffer between floorboards and prevent them from rubbing against each other and creating those annoying sounds.
